The black aeroplane raised the curiosity of the pilot by giving him courage to go ahead with his old dacota by being a helping hand to him.
Answer:
The narrator's plane entered into dark clouds. All the instruments in the plane and even the compass had stopped working. His radio was also not operating and he was unable to contact with the ground control. Nothing is visible to him.
But suddenly he saw another aeroplane in the storm and the pilot in it was gesturing the narrator to follow him. The narrator landed safely at the airport with the help of that black aeroplane. But after the sky was clear, he didn't saw any aeroplane. When he asked a lady in the control room about the black aeroplane, she was shocked and replied that the only aeroplane in the storm was the narrator's old dakota.
This created a major curiosity in the narrator. He was surprised that if his plane was the only one in the storm, then who helped him to land safely.
hope this helps!!
