How does the business world treat time like money and treat people often as machines ?

Because they want to extract the maximum from every minute, so for them time is money. The time spent on waste will not come back same as money. While the maximum can be attained through their labors. As machines, work on their full potential until we make them stop, people are also expected to work with full potential and perform their work  as assigned with out any delay and error.
