On going down from group 1 to down in the periodic table. The no. of sgells surrounding the atoms increases which tends to decrease the nuclear charge as electrons are getting moved away from the nucleus which means that the negative charge of an atom decreases while the postive charge increases. And as we go from up to down towards the left side of a perioduc table, the elements become strongly electropositive in nature .

As we go fown the group the reactivity of alkali metals increases as the number if shells go on increasing.
