Digestion is a long and complex process which takes place in different sites of our guts.

Digestion of carbohydrates starts from the mouth only as saliva contains amylase which breaks around 30% carbohydrates. and complete digestion happens in small intestine and absorption of all the breakdown products completes at large intention.

following are the sites of digestion and enzymes responsible .

1.mouth - amylase

2.stomach -pepsi ,remain,carboxyamaylase .

3.small intestine - bile juice ,protesases, carboxylase etc

4.large intestine - water absorption .

the digested breakdown products like glucose ,amino acid and lipids are absorbed through vessels and lymphatic system and assimilated.
