Answer: James Herriot hospitalized the dog under his care for a fortnight. He didn’t give any food  to the dog for two days. In stead of that he gave plenty of water. The dog was given a warm  loose box for it to sleep just like the other dogs. Tricki learned to be in the company of dogs  to move, to play and to jostle forward to have his limited share of food from the common  bowls. Tricki started recovering slowly.
