First of all,
WHAT IS A 'RIGID BODY'?
-> A rigid body is such a body in which the distance between any two points never changes(Unless you break it). The body is able to apply enough Normal force to keep its shape. Such as: A disc, rod, rock, spherical ball etc.
WHAT IS A 'NON RIGID BODY'?
-> Such type of body in which the distance between two points can be changed easily. The body is unable to keep its shape due to elasticity(The property of objects to stretch, turn and twist without breaking). A human boy flapping his arms( The distance between the wrists of his arms are changing ), A rubber band (distance between a point on one end and a point on the other end changes when stretched) etc.
NOW,
How does the effect of force differs even when the same force is applied on both bodies?
-> let's take an example of a ball hitting a wall and a cloth hanging on a wire. (See the image)
What happens when it hits the wall?
- The wall doesn't show any change in motion and the normal force applied by the ball has been cancelled by the normal applied by the wall. Finally, the ball goes back with a different velocity(Doesn't stop).
What happens when it its the cloth?
- The cloth shows some motion, gets folded back a little and the ball falls down.

Answer:
When force is applied on a non-rigid body it can change its shape or the dimensions and can also produce acceleration; while and when force is applied on a rigid body, it tends to produce an acceleration in the body.
