The electronic configuration of an atom relates to its position in the modern periodic table as when we arrange the electrons in the 1st , 2nd , 3rd and 4th shells i.e. ... So, its' electronic configuration is 2,8,1 and its valency is +1 . This element therefore comes in Group 1 with +1 valency.
