After the embryo embedds in the uterus a disc like tissue develops in between uterus wall and attached to the umbical cord called PLACENTA that helps to get nourishment to embryo through mothers body.

In the Placenta, the foetal blood comes in close contact with the maternal blood.

Here, exchange of material between the Mother's blood & the foetal blood take place.
