Answer:The embryo is connected to the the mother's body via placenta, which is a disc shaped tissue embedded in the uterine wall having numerous villi on the embryo's side of the tissue. On the mother's side are blood spaces which surround villi. This provides a large surface area for glucose and oxygen to pass from the mother to the embryo. Also the waste materials generated by the embryo is absorbed by the mother's blood via placenta and is thus removed from the mother's body.
