How Does the FeO impurity present in sulphide ore of copper is removed ...gays plzz ans
Answers
Answer:
It is treated with Silicon Oxide to give slag of Ferrous silicate
hope it helps :))
Following process is done for removal of Iron oxide from sulphide ore of copper:
Explanation:
The name of the process is smelting. In this process after the copper ore is roasted ( a process for removing sulphur from the copper ore) the ore is mixed with coke and silica and put into furnace. the ore is mixed with coke because coke is an excellent reducing agent, it produces carbon monoxide which helps in reduction of iron. silica is put in the form of sand.
Then the hot air is blasted inside the furnace and it results in conversion of iron oxide into a compound which is called slag.
Slag is a by product of smelting. it usually looks glass like and has various oxides mixed in it.
This removes Fe from the copper.
