How does the focal length of eye lens changes when we shift looking from distant to near by object.

the lens is collectively held in position by fibres called the suspensory ligament which attach it to ciliary body the ciliary body contains muscles which on contraction and relaxtion change the shape of the lens . for seeing near by object the lens relax(become thick) and for seeing far object the lens contract (become thin)
