According to the universal law of gravitation, gravitation force(f) acting between two objects is inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them

F is proportional 1/r power 2

If the distance becames r/2 then the gravitational force will be proportional to

1/(r/2) whole power 2

If the distance is reduced to half the gravitational force became four times its previous value.
