How does the heart beat

The heartbeat occurs when the atria and ventricles work together, alternately contracting and relaxing to pump blood through your heart. Electrical impulses are generated by the sinoatrial node (SA node), a small area in the heart's right upper chamber (atrium). As the electrical impulses travel smoothly through the heart, the two upper chambers (the atria) squeeze at the same time to pump blood down to the lower chambers (the ventricles). Then the two ventricles squeeze at the same time, pumping blood to your lungs to pick up oxygen and to the rest of your body.
Hope this Helps

Answer.

¤¤ One Heart Beat = a Lub + a dub

¤¤ During **Cardiac Cycle**, 2 sounds are generate. The First sound [ a Lub ] is closenance of tricuspid valve and bicuspid valve. The second sound [ a Dub] is due to the closure of the Semilunar valve.

☆☆ CARDIAC CYCLE ☆☆

¤¤ Joint Diastole :- It is the relaxed state of all chambers of heart. When the tricuspid valves open, blood from pulmonary vein and vana cava flows into left & right ventricles respectively through left and right atria. Semilunar valve are closed at this stage.

¤¤ Atrial Systole :- SAN [ sino atrial node ] generates an action potential. As a result both the atria contract. It is called atrial systole. This increases the flow of blood into the ventricles by about 30%.

¤¤ Ventricular Systole :- The action potential is conducted to ventricular side by AVN & AV bundle from where Bundle of HIS transmits it through the ventricular musculature. As a result, ventricles contract. It is called ventricular systole increases the Ventricular Pressure causing :
▪Closure of tricuspid and bicuspid valve due to attempt backflow of blood into the atria.
▪ Semilunar valves open. So deoxygenated blood enters the pulmonary artery from right ventricle.

¤ The ventricles now relax[ventricular Diastole] and the Ventricular Pressure falls causing :
▪ The closure of the semilunar valves which prevents the backflow of blood into the ventricles.
▪ The tricuspid and bicuspid valves are opened by the pressure in the atria.

¤¤ The ventricles and atria again undergo joint diastole and the above process are repeated. This is called cardiac cycle.

¤¤ A cardiac cycle [ atrial systole + ventricular systole + diastole ] is completed in 0.8 seconds.

¤¤ One Heartbeat = 70-70times / min [ average = 72/min. ]
