Helen had been reading the Bible for years with an ever-broadening sense of joy and inspiration. She loved it as she loved no other book. But there was so much in the Bible against which every instinct of her being rebelled that it made her regret the necessity which compelled her to read it from cover to cover. In her opinion, the knowledge that she had gained of its history and sources could not compensate her enough for the unpleasant details it had forced upon her attention. She wished that the literature of the past was purged of all that was ugly and barbarous although she was not in favour of weakening or falsification of any work on such grounds. Helen was impressed by the simplicity and terrible directness of the book of Esther and moved by the story of the loyal and gentle-hearted Ruth. The Bible gave her a deep, comforting sense that things seen were temporal while those unseen were eternal.

Bishop Brook motivated her to love every child of God and Heavenly father. That is why Helen promoted her love for Bible.
