IEEE 802.11 addresses the
problem associated with a noisy channel by fragmentation. Lengthy frames are
fragmented into small size frames. Each fragment has its own checksum and is
individually numbered. The fragmentation enhances the throughput and limits the
retransmissions to bad fragments alone rather to the entire frame.
