Microorganisms helps in sewage treatment by decomposing the organic matter present in sewage.Firstly, the bacteria are feed on the organic part of the sewage ,the complex organic molecules are broken down into simpler compounds. This is done by enzymes released by the bacteria by hydrolysis.by this certain part is converted into carbon dioxide and water and rest are converted into sludge and removed. Then the process of nitrification is done which is followed by denitrification process in which nitrogen is then removed from waste water.
