How does the moment of water in a plant differ from the movement of food in it​

The movement of water and minerals occurs via Xylem. The water enters into the root hair through thee process of Osmosis. Transpiration causes a suction force called Transpiration Pull which ascends the water and mineral upward.

While in translocation of food Phloem is involved. This Phloem contains sieve tubes. The movement of food occurs due to pressure generated by the sieve tubes and companion cells. When leaves prepare food it is actively transported to phloem vessels. Due to increased accumulation of food (sugar) in the cell the solvent (water) starts moving inside the cell. This influx of water generates a tremendous amount of pressure that mobiles the food down to vessel.

The part from where food is synthesized is called Source (i.e, leaves) and the part where the transport streams end is called Sink (roots or any other part). During this flow of food the surrounding cells absorb the desired amount of food for their metabolic functions.
