'The Selfish Giant' is a story written by Oscar Wilde.

The story revolves around a Giant who is lonely and lives his life all by himself. Initially, he stayed confined in his house which was situated within a beautiful garden, that was surrounded by a wall. He used to keep to himself and did not allow anyone to come into his garden.

The Winter and Frost seemed to be staying in the giant's garden. Though he wished for Autumn and Summer, they never came.

However, one day the giant heard music coming from his garden. It was the sound of the birds' songs. He saw children playing his game and everything was colorful. Summer was here.

The giant understood that the children and their happiness had brought about such delightfulness.

His life was not lonely or loveless anymore. It was filled with the children's love. He was not selfish anymore.

He had broken down the wall due to which the children could not come in and play. People even saw the once selfish and rude giant play with the children.
