how does the neutralization of carbonate with an acid different from the neutralization of an. oxide

neutralisation of carbonate with acid will lead to formation of salt, water and evolution of carbon dioxide gas , however neutralisation of oxide or hydroxide with acid will lead to formation of salt and water only
