1. The Himalayan range affects the climate of India by blocking the cold, arctic winds blowing south from Siberia and Central Asia, thus keeping the Indian subcontinent much warmer than corresponding temperate regions in other continents.
2. The Himalayas form a natural barrier that prevents monsoon winds from going further north.
3. The Himalayas also had a role to play in the formation of Central Asian deserts such as the Gobi.

The Himalayas form a natural wall in the north of India.
This natural barrier prevents the freezing Siberian winds from blowing southwards. In the same way, it prevents the rain-laden monsoon winds from the Bay of Bengal, going further up north and getting dissipated.
Other than these, the Himalayas support forests and are a source for many great rivers flowing through India.
