A. Panchayati raj has ensured active participation of the people .
b. It is primarily through Gram Sabha which comprises of all the adult members of the village that people can directly participate in the affairs of the village.
c. It is the people of the village who elect the members of the Gram Panchayat.
d. Gram Panchayat is answerable and accountable to the Gram Sabha.
f. All the programmes and policies have to be approved by Gram Sabha, in some states gram sabha members have also formed committees among themselves to ensure effective implementation of plans.
g. Power to the people also comes from the fact that members of the gram sabha also keep a check on their elected representatives to prevent misuse of power.
