The character of gaston in the play villa for sale represents greed, materialism and opportunist people. Initially, Gaston doesn't care about his wife wanting to buy a villa but as soon as Mrs. Al smith mistakes him for juliettes husband, he hatches an evil plan to cheat her off and creates extra profit by pretending to care about jeannes family and buying the villa. Juliette also increases the price of the villa to G set more money
