It is quite true the poem Cold Within is symbolic of lack of warmth and compassion in human relations. This lack exists at all levels: personal, family, social, etc.In the poem, The Cold Within, the poet has beautiful portrayed this ill-will in men trapped in bitter cold.

Answer:

In the poem 'The Cold Within' the lack of warmth and compassion in human relationships is beautifully portrayed by the poet by telling a story of a group of six 'humans' who were trapped by happenstance in the unpleasant and biting cold around a dying fire. Although they were in a group and each one has a stick of wood, the could not survive because of the lack of warmthness of love, mercy, sympathy and compassion within them which prevented them from putting the stick into use and eventually brought there demise.
