It is absolutely true small, insignificant things are vital in life. However we don’t see it. Our preoccupation does not let us see it. In the poem Dust of Snow, the poet’s mood was transformed by an ordinary bird of nature. As he was enjoying an evening walk on a wintry evening, a crow inadvertently threw some snow on him while he was passing under a tree. This uplifted the poet’s mood which had been melancholy for some personal reason.
The poet took the falling of snow as healthy sign; if he had taken it negatively, he would have been further depressed. If the poet would have considered crow an insignificant creature, he would not have enjoyed the falling of snow.
So, it is better to look at the world through optimism than negativity.
The poem moves from the poets tendency to see the bad side of life to positive side. The poem highlights the small natural events that helps the poet to heal the negative emotions.
