The poet brings out the 'pathetic condition' of the 'blind child' in the poem blind child through the following points:
- In the opening line itself, the little brother of her laughs and she is unable to find out why her brother is laughing. She feels sorry about that and she’s missing the charm of seeing her brother.
- Further, the poet feels that being amid nature and not being able to see and feel the color and beauty of nature is enough worse than the sight of a dead body passing by.
- Even though he himself can see, he considers himself blind because the child cannot see. The poet feels very pathetic for the child’s situation.
The “Blind Child”, by W.H. Davies, makes a pathetic reading although is nicely written by the poet. As the name itself suggests it is about a blind girl and her feelings.
