The poet gives a sweeping picture of a moving train- the
driver, guards on their duty, the bagmen playing cards, the passengers
comfortably seated on their berth, the handle to get the breeze in, the
basin to wash your face in, the guard enquiring about the morning
tea, then the passengers pulling up the windows and going off to
sleep and the cat drinking whisky to keep himself alert, getting down
at each station to refresh himself and finally escorting the passenger
out of the train. The cat's changing movements with the train are all
very pictorially depicted.
