The poet glorifies his poem by saying that it is eternal. The theme of the poem is the immortality of his poem . The poet says that his friend will be remembered forever because he has been mentioned in the poem. He highlights the nature of time , the time isn't loyal towards even kings as even kings are forgotten with the passage of time but the poem and the works of literature will live for a thousand years.
