Through the poem ‘On Killing a Tree’, Gieve Patel tirades those who cut down trees in a mocking way.

He says that a simple kinfe jab or a single blow will not be useful in felling a tree and that one has to uproot it and expose the sensitive roots to the sun.

He explains how strong and resilient the tree is to assault and how ignorant it is of humans to think that it can be easily cut down.
