Answer:

The poet felt sad on seeing the boy, who lost his ball.

Explanation:

This line is taken from a poem named “The Ball”. In this poem, the poet narrated about his feeling towards the boy who lost his ball, while playing. The poet could sense that, this ball was the boy’s favourite ball. But while playing, it got slipped somehow and felt into the pond and drowned.

The poet said that he is not supposed to console the boy by saying there are several balls or by providing some money for buying a new ball. Instead, he think that, the boy should be given time to learn the responsibility of taking care of his possessions.

Answer:

The poet becomes sad and wishes to buy the young boy a new ball. However, he also feels that it is good for the boy. He has learned a new lesson i.e. we lose our possessions someday. Thus we should not be hopeless. Instead, we should hope for a better future and move on.
