the poet sees that we can't cry for everything and get a new... patience and understanding the situation is very important in life... we should deal with the sacrifices rather than making it easy...here in the poem when the ball goes in the water the poet explains that the child should not get a new one because it's his age to understand the sacrifices....!

The poet feels that he should not intrude into the situation. He is full of sympathy for the boy and understand his grief. At the same time he refuses to involve himself. He remains aloof so that the boy should cope with the situation himself. The boy will mature into a responsible person and understand that loss is an unavoidable part of life. This will help him to bear his loss boldly.
