the poet tries hard to understand the meaning of the poem but he couldnt.he estimates that it would be of some long time battles,or some present issues that may happen r happening to the reaper's life or the lives of ordinary people.he concludes to these words by hearing the sad tunes of the highland lass(the reaper).
