How does the pressure exerted by a solid and a fluid differ?

See liquid exerts pressure in all directions when put in a comtainer and solid exerts pressure only in one direction (base)....for example...u take a comtainer which has holes in all directions. ... pour some water in it and hope the whole ...u will notice that water is coming outside the container from all directions....this proves that water (Liquid) exerts pressure from all directions.....and example for solid....u take a cube and put it on a table...only the base of the cube will exert pressure.....hope this helped...
