how does the reactivity of elements vary down the group 1 and 17 ?

Answer:

reactivity increases in group 1 as the number of shells increases so size of atom increases which leads to less attraction between protons and electrons. so electrons can be easily given which leads to increase in metallic property and thus increase in reactivity.

in group 17 non metallic property decreases down the group for the same reason. but compairing group 1 and 17 then elements down the group 1 will be more reactive than elements down the group 17.
