DNA-binding repressor blocks the attachment of RNA polymerase to the promoter, thus preventing transcription of the genes into messenger RNA. An RNA-bindingrepressor binds to the mRNA andprevents translation of the mRNA intoprotein. This blocking of expression is called repression.
