As, R∝1/A (Resistance is indirectly proportional to the cross sectional area)
where, R= Resistance and,
A= Area of cross - section of wire
Thus, if area of cross section of a conductor increases, the resistance (the ability to resist the movement of charges) decreases and vice-versa.
