how does the resistance of a wire changes when area is doubled??

Resistance will became half

when the area of wire is doubled and the positive ion(proton) in wire will be at more distance ane previous one and due to which when wire is connected to the cell and electron accelerates they do not collide more with the positive ion in the wire and hence giving less resistance then previous one.
