Satire is the use of humor, exaggeration generally used to criticize the negative aspects of the society and people's stupidity.
From the outset, we know that Mrs. Packletide nurses no desire or lust to kill the tiger. She only wants to kill the tiger to overshadow her arch rival Loona Bimberton. Saki pokes fun at Mrs. Packletide, who ''pays'' for the tiger hunting, since it will involve less risk and exertion for her. The villagers on the contrary, help her at the prospect of earning the money.
Her paid companion, Louisa Mebbin is not afraid of the beast, but instead is afraid to do an atom more service than what she is paid for. This is a satire on the clever ways adopted at workplaces.
The humor is highlighted when Mrs.Packletide shots the goat instead of the tiger.
Lastly, Louisa Mebbin threatens Mrs.Packletide to reveal the secret of the tiger hunting reflects upon the fact of broken trust and faith which is rampant in the modern day society.
Overall, Saki mocks the upper class vainglorious sections of the society who would anything to outshine each other and consequently end up making a mockery of themselves.
Mrs. Packletide's Tiger is a satire in which the author sarcastically comments upon the ladies of the aristocratic society. With the help of a single story of tiger killing the author humuorously throws light on the ostentatious behaviour of the ladies who are in vain glories. Mrs. Packletide shoots a tiger to outshine Loona Bimberton. This action involves neither bravery nor risk. Her idea of paying thousand rupees to the villagers is more humurous and the villager's reaction after the tiger's death also makes us laugh. Humour breaks all previous records when Louisa Mebbin informs that its not the tiger but goat which was shot dead by the Memsahib. The paid companion Louisa Mebbin, her stiginess and elder sisterly attitude towards money maked us enjoy the story. The over flowing humour in the story along with a message makes it more interesting. The way finally Miss Mebbin exploits and blackmails Mrs. Packletide makes it a complete satire.
