Self Help Group is nothing but a group of people who are on daily wages, they form a group and from that group one person collects the money and gives the money to the person who is in need.

Members alsomake small regular savings contributions over a few months until there is enough money in the group to begin lending.

Answer:

  1. Initiate and maintain savings within the group: All members must regularly save at least a small amount.
  2. These savings allow them to get future credits for their group.
  3. Lending loans to the members: The savings made by the SHG must be used to provide loans to members of the group.
  4. The self-help group (SHG) approach is a new paradigm into the field of rural development which main objectives are to increase the well-being of the poor people, provide access to resources and credit, increase self-confidence, self-esteem and increase their credit ability in all aspects of lives.
  5. The origin of self-help group can be traced is from Gravamen bank of Bangladesh, which was founded by Mohamed Yunnan.
