How does the site of photosynthesis in desert plants differ from those of ordinary plants

here's yr ans
Most plants from deserts, especially succulent juicy ones like cacti and similar plants exhibit something called Crassulacean acid metabolism, also known as CAM photosynthesis. In CAM, plants keep their stomata closed during the hot day, to reduce evapo-transpiration and and open their stomata at night, to take in carbon dioxide which is stored in the plant for the following day when it is needed. Most other plants from non-dry parts of the world do not do this, however plants in situations where water can be short, such as epiphytes and lithophytes(plants perched on other plants or rocks) usually also have it. Curiously, water plants often exhibit this too, but not to save water, obviously, but to gather CO2 when it is most abundant, at night.
