Answer:

The sliding filament theory is the mechanism of muscle contraction. According to this theory, actin and myosin play an important role in muscle contraction and relaxation.

Myosin is a thick filament of muscle fibers and actin forms the thing filament, which contains a head binding site for myosin filament.

During the muscle contraction, the myosin head binds to the actin binding site and form a complex called as actomyosin. After binding myosin head releases ADP, which move the myosin filament over the actin, which results in the contraction of the muscle.
