how does the social difference originate in our society

it emerge on 2 bases:

1]   place of birth : we are said to be indians as we are born in india that is we are said to be of particular community as we have taken birth in it.

2]  our choices: we are also devided in a country on the basis of our choices. one good example of it is in 11 standard we have separate sections for science ,arts,commerce,etc.

All social differences do not lead to social division.... especially when Cross-Cutting social differences are there, But, Some leave deep scar on the society, especially when overlapping differences are there, For Example,

In Netherlands social differences between catholics & protestants are Cross-Cutting Social Differences. And both of them have almost equall social status.

But opposite happens in Ireland where overlapping social difference is there.
