How does the sound is produced in flute and how the sound varies if we close one hole???

I think it is simple science. Let's take an stick with few holes instead of an flute. There is a lot of air pressure. Due to the air pressure in the stick a hole is opened and sound is produced. Hence due to different pressure there is difference in sound and it varies.

Because there are many holes in A flute so when we blow air in order to play it the air go through all holes of flute but if we close one hole the escaping path of the air has blocked and it has to take other path and it create pressure there and produce different sound..!! that's what I know..Thank You
