how does the sound produced by a vibrating object in a medium reach your ear?

the sound produces vibrations which travel in the air...moving particles to and fro...and hence causing compression and rarefaction...which lead to the vibration the air near the ears hence the vibration enter the ear drums ...due to which we are able to hear.
