Answer: Turmeric stains on white clothes are yellow. The stains turn red when such clothes are washed with soap. What is the reason for it? It is because turmeric contains an acid (tartaric acid), while the soap contains a base (sodium hydroxide).the best chance of removing a turmeric stain from fabric. First, run cold water over the stain. If you can remove the clothing item, do so, and soak it in cold water with mild detergent for 20 minutes.

Turmeric is a indicator( a material which indicates whether the substance is acidic or basic ) and when we wash with it with soap which is a base it changes colour to indicate soap is basic
