the story "The little match girl "reflects the theme of class differentiation. the higher strata of the society is rejoicing where as the poor little girl has nothing to eat. She is roaming around in the cold and gloom trying to earn something by selling her matches. The rich were comfortable in their warm and cozy homes but the girl had only a roof above their head and as cold wind whistled through it , her hands turned numb.
