The story "The Chinese Statue" is written by Jeffrey Archer. It is about a statue which originated in the time of the Ming Dynasty. It was brought to London by Sir Alexander. It was kept safely and in great glory by his heirs for generations. So it appeared to be very valuable.

When the latest descendant of Sir Alexander Heathcote decided to sell the statue because he needed money he was shocked to know that the statue was fake. So the reality was totally different from the appearance.

In this way the story shows that sometimes what appears to be glorious and valuable may actually be useless or fake in reality.
