The story,The Little Match girl reflected the helplessness of some of the poor people of the society. The story shows how the poor girl was starving of food as she felt hungry when she smelled roasted goose coming from the windows of the houses.

She was freezing with cold as she was not having slippers of her own rather she was having which belonged to her mother but now she don't have that also. She was helpless as she was shivering to cold and in order to protect her,she can't even go to her home bcoz her father would beat her as she has not sold either one of the matchsticks which is in her aprons. All other people were busy celebrating their New Year's Eve,but noone cared for this poor little girl.

So this story reflected the carelessness of some of the people who don't care for the poor in festivals and even in normal days.

By this they create differentiation in the living of the poor and the rich.
