The alveoli present in the lungs increase the surface area for the exchange of gases.

It is advantageous as it contains a lot of blood vessels to carry the oxygen to the rest of the body.

It also provides an efficient method for the exchange of gases

Answer:It is because of alveoli.

Explanation:There are various minute sac-like structures known as alveoli present at the terminal of bronchiolar tubes. Oxygen is diffused within the blood through alveoli. Due to the presence of these millions of minute alveoli the total surface area of the lung increases to allow inhalation of enough oxygen required for oxidation of glucose, hence liberating sufficient energy to carry out the activities.
