Night‐time stomatal conductance (gnight) occurs in many ecosystems, but the gnight response to environmental drivers is relatively unknown, especially in deserts.

Here, we conducted a Bayesian analysis of stomatal conductance (g) (N = 5013) from 16 species in the Sonoran, Chihuahuan, Mojave and Great Basin Deserts (North America). We partitioned daytime g(gday) and gnight responses by describing g as a mixture of two extreme (dark vs high light) behaviors.

Transpiration rate change in different time of a day:

There are some factors which changes the transpiration rate of the plants in the different time of the days.

Light: The transpiration rate of the plant became higher in the light but low in the dark. This is happened as the light is responsible to stimulate the opening of the stomata of the leaf.

Temperature: If the temperature will raise the then the transpiration rate of the plant will be higher and if the temperature will fall then the rate will be low.

Humidity: If the humidity of the outer environment is low then the water will evaporate from the plant.
