The following are some of the ways in which the legislature exercises its control over the execuÂtive.Every member of the legislature has the right to put questions and supplementary questions to any minister and the minister has to give reply,Any member of the legislature can move a motion of adjournment on any urgent matter. The legislature can move an amendment to a finance bill through cut motion.In serious matters, the legislature may pass a vote of censure or no confidence against the executive or cabinet and the latter has to resign. The cabinet goes out of office and a new cabinet takes its place.
